About Csézy
Csézy was born in October, 1979 in a small town , called Mezőkövesd. Her
childhood was a little bit different than most children. She was singing children
songs and lullabies shortly after she started speaking. Csézy’s parents considered
it extremely important to provide a musical education of a high level for their
daughter from her very young age. Her mother who is a music teacher led her
to the comprehensive musical qualification, which covers various fields: she
is not only a singer of a great talent and much creativity, but also plays
on piano and composes music. She was 10 years old when she was invited to
join a local group and become their singer. She was touring with them from
town to town through the whole country and performed at weddings , parties,
etc…
In 2001 summer she was invited to the USA by a Hungarian-American Organization
to come and perform at their festival. In the same year she traveled to Canada
and visited several Hungarian Communities and sang in “Hungarian-Houses”.
Csézy graduated from the Béla Bartók Music Department of the University of Miskolc. After she finished school, she was touring with much intensity in the company of her former classmates, and they did not have to wait too long for their first success. In Spain, the group won the first prize at an international contest where they were singing local folk and polyphonic songs.
If we are talking about folklore, we need to mention that Csezy was born in a family, which is proud to preserve Hungarian folk traditions, namely she is the last descendant of the worldwide famous „Matyó” , Kiss-Jankó dynasty. She had opportunity to travel to Japan to the famous folklore exhibition , called “Exhibition of Europe” in 2001 where she represented Hungary’s Matyó handcraft artists.
In 2007 Csézy’s childhood dream came true when her debut album hit the shelves of Hungarian music stores. There was no doubt about her classical background but in order to gain wider audience she wanted to show her talent in the field of pop music as well. The first single from the album became a huge success in Hungary, since local radio stations picked up the moving ballad immediately. The spectacular, visually fantastic video prepared for the song also remained in the highest rotation of Hungarian music TV channels for weeks.
In 2008 Csézy represented the Hungarian Television at the Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade . She won the Hungarian national selection of the Eurovision Song Contest with the song named Szívverés (Candlelight) she participated in the second semi-final of the Eurovision. The local final took place in Budapest, and during the show fifteen songs were performed. Among the contestants, not only newcomers, but also highly popular singers and bands tried to achieve the first place so as to represent Hungary in Belgrade. The Hungarian viewers and the professional jury voted for Csézy, the young, beautiful and exquisitely talented singer.
Candlelight – the song that Csézy performed in English at the semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade – is another beautiful, heartbreaking ballad. The composer of the tune is Viktor Rakonczai; its lyrics were written by Imre Mozsik. Viktor Rakonczai’s name might be familiar for those who have been following the history of Eurovision Contest, as he was one of the singers of boy group named VIP, which, representing Hungary, had attended the Eurovision Song Contest of Dublin in 1997. Viktor was eager to return to the stage of Eurovision as a musician, since he accompanied Csézy on piano at the event.
Right now Csézy is working on her second cd and probably releases her first song from this album early 2009!
